Flat Roofing

Flat Roofing

Your flat roofing system is your first line of defense against damage from the elements and commonly provides a more economical approach for waterproofing your building. The low slope of commercial roofing, along with the integration of today's advanced HVAC and mechanical systems, increases the potential for water buildup and leakage. The complexity of these systems requires experienced, certified professionals to properly diagnosis your problems and recommend repair or replacement options. In the case of a new or re-roofing application, many factors impact the performance of your commercial roof and should be evaluated to determine the most appropriate option for your building.

Rubber Roofing (EPDM)

Rubber Roofing

EPDM, better known as rubber roofing, has been in use since the 1960's and has proven itself to be one of the most versatile and cost effective roofing material for flat roofing systems. EPDM roofing systems are complex and should only be installed and repaired by certified specialists. Alan Kunsman Roofing is certified by the leading manufacturers of EPDM including CarlisleGAFVersico, and others.

We have been inducted into the Carlisle Hall of Fame and are members of Excellence in Single Ply (ESP), with over 1800 “perfect 10” installations. We are proud to be recognized as one of the top 5 applicators in the USA.

TPO Roofing

TPO Roofing

TPO is a reinforced singly-ply membrane which offers excellent resistance to environmental contaminants. Available in 6 thicknesses, and 19 colors, it can be used in a wide variety of flat roofing applications. TPO is LEED and Energy Star certified as an energy efficient roofing system. While TPO offers a relatively maintenance free roof, repairs or replacement may be required.

Due to its heat welded properties, only experienced certified roofing technicians should be permitted to make repairs and install TPO roof systems. Since its inception in the early 1990's, as one of the area's leading flat roofing contractors, Alan Kunsman Roofing has been certified to install and maintain TPO roofing systems. During this time, we have successfully installed over two hundred TPO roofs and made thousands of repairs.

Modified Bitumen Roofing

Modified Bitumen Roofing

Modified Bitumen roofing is considered to be the most durable roofing system on the market. Multiple layers of reinforcing material and modified asphalt are integrated into a single roll. By combining multiple layers of ply sheets, an unlimited amount of commercial roofing configurations can be designed to meet the specific requirements for your roof.

Alan Kunsman Roofing is proud to have been involved with some of the first Modified Bitumen roof systems installed in the Lehigh Valley in the early 1980's. By constantly educating our employees and upgrading the specialized equipment required for the proper installation of these roof systems, we have continued to remain a leader in the Modified Bitumen market today.

Built Up Roofing (BUR)

Built Up Roofing
PALEHI023034NeighObliq31290S_180408.jpg

Built up roofing has been utilized to keep buildings waterproof since Babylonian times. By combining plies of reinforcing mat and asphalt, the redundant nature of this application creates a roof system that is virtually indestructible. Through the development of newer types of asphalt and reinforcing mats, the BUR remains a staple in commercial roofing today. Because the asphalt must be heated to over 400 degrees, BUR requires specialized equipment and many years of experience to be properly and safely installed. Since the 1970's we have successfully installed hundreds of Built Up Roofs. By continually maintaining certifications, upgrading equipment and educating our employees, Alan Kunsman Roofing is able to properly install and maintain any of today's BUR systems.

Green Roofing (Garden Roof)

Green Roofing

Due to its ability to insulate the interior of the building, reduce and control rain water runoff, and reduce noise levels, Garden roofs are quickly becoming the solution to many of today's modern building design problems. Recent developments of engineered growth mediums, pre-grown plantings and laminated drainage-retention mats have made rooftop gardens more flexible, affordable and are commonly covered under the roof manufacturer's warranty.

However, Garden Roofs alone do not create a waterproof system. It is critical to remember that the roof garden is only as good as the roof system that lies beneath it. Alan Kunsman Roofing will work with you to design the waterproof roofing system and Garden Roof that's right for you.

Steep Roofing

Steep Roofing

The architectural details of a steep roof help to set the look and tone of your building. The use of architectural shingles, slate, metal, or tile can transform an ordinary structure into an elegant, contemporary, or even historic looking building. We have experience with all types of steep commercial roofing and look forward to helping you with your next project.

Shingle Roofing

(architectural and others)

Shingle Roofing

Since its introduction in 1903, asphalt based shingles have long been recognized as the most cost effective method to cover steep roofs. Over 100 years later, the introduction of fiberglass felts, laminates and ceramic granules may have changed the composition of the shingle, but it certainly has not changed the fact that the roof over your building is only as good as the company that installs it.

Today's complex building environment requires the commercial roofing contractor you hire to be well versed in all aspects of construction. With nearly 50 years of roofing installation experience, Alan Kunsman Roofing is one of the Lehigh Valley's oldest and most experienced commercial roofing contractors. Let our team of experts and certified roofing professionals help you to resolve your shingle roof problems.

Slate Roofing

(natural and synthetic)

Slate Roofing

Slate is still considered to be one of the most durable and aesthetically pleasing roof coverings. However, the cost of natural slate and complexity of installation have decreased it's use in recent times. Synthetic slate, which mimics slate's natural properties at a reduced cost, has become more popular. Regardless of your selection of natural or synthetic slate, proper installation still requires experience and expertise.

The professionals at Alan Kunsman Roofing have over 200 years of combined roofing experience. Ongoing repair is a critical part of any slate roofing maintenance program. Alan Kunsman Roofing is one of the Lehigh Valley's only roofing companies to offer a dedicated Maintenance Program to prevent and resolve slate roofing problems.

Tile Roofing

Tile Roofing

Terra cotta and clay tiles adorn homes throughout the world. Typically utilized for Mediterranean style homes, they combine old world charm with one of the longest life expectancies of any roofing material. Today's tiles are manufactured from cement fiber and metal as well as clay and terra cotta.

As with any roofing material, the proper installation of tile requires the experience and expertise of a modern day craftsman. Alan Kunsman Roofing has installed and maintained the Lehigh Valley's tile roofs since 1960. If your existing tile roof requires maintenance or you're looking to have tile installed, call the experts at Alan Kunsman Roofing & Siding for a free no obligation consultation, roof evaluation, and estimate. Contact us today.

Shake Roofing

Shake Roofing

Utilized on some of the original homes in the United States, the rustic appearance and deep texture of shakes make it a design element that is still used today. Changes in construction practices have reduced the ability for shake roof systems to “breathe”, causing the shakes to deteriorate at an accelerated rate. By recognizing these problems and utilizing new technology with ventilating blankets, high performance underlayments and old fashioned know how, the experts at Alan Kunsman Roofing can help you maintain the look and feel of shakes.

Metal Roofing

(Copper, Aluminum, Steel, etc.)

Metal Roofng

Available in many styles and colors, a metal roof can give your building a beautiful and distinctive look. Be it aluminum, steel, or copper, metal provides a durable, long-lasting, lightweight roofing option. It is also fire and pest-resistant and can be installed more quickly than other types of roofing.

Here in the Greater Lehigh Valley, snow and ice buildup can abruptly slide from your roof. This can cause damage to your landscaping and presents a safety hazard. Fortunately, we offer several snow guard systems which solve this problem. We also recommend cutting back encroaching tree limbs to prevent them from damaging your metal roof. Should your roof become damaged by a fallen branch, hail, or other debris, or is leaking, it should be inspected by one of our professional estimators.
